What A Day!!!

Yesterday was a wonderful day, we got the beginning of our garden planted. We planted peas and carrots, the cold weather plants, and we finally planted our berries!!! We went to White Forest Nursery (one of my new favorite places) in the morning to buy our berries, then to Lowes to buy the fertilizer and seeds for everything else. Lowes is a regular shopping experience for Maddy and I. It is getting to the point to where the employees know who she is and always say hi to her, it is very cute.

Maddy is such a good planter. She new what to do with the seeds and put one in every hole.

Here are our berries. We planted two Navajo Blackberries, one of another type of Blackberry, and one Loganberry. All are thornless so we don't have to worry about the babies and thorns. Anyway, this is the way they looked in the morning when we planted them. Below is how they looked after the mini-hurricane that we experienced last night. Yes, our fence was blown over and landed right in our berries, it was very sad!! Luckily it just missed all of the berries, but it didn't miss the house. We get to call the insurance company first thing monday morning to see how we go about replacing windows on our house!!! Oh well, we were going to replace them this year anyway, we just get to do one a bit earlier than we planned. I hope that this is the worst damage that anyone experienced through this storm and that all is well. I am glad that it is over!!

This picture was taken last night. You can see the berry right next to the bricks, it literally just missed our berries, thank goodness!!
