Spider Bite!!

Jacob and I have been trying hard to figure this one out. We had a lot of spiders when we moved in....by a lot I mean at least 6 black widows in broad daylight. But we haven't seen even a daddy-long-leg in months.

The only thing we could think of was that we went to Lowe's yesterday and were playing in the dirt in the back yard. Other than that the only place we have been is church. We didn't notice her finger had any problems until Sacrament meeting this morning where it looked like she had gotten a sliver or something like that and it had gotten VERY infected.

We had Brother Long (I found out that in his cool background he used to be an ER nurse, very handy!!) look at it after church and he thought it was a very bad spider bite. By now her finger was so swollen that it looked like the skin was going to burst and was starting to turn purple!! So we decided to take her into the Pedi Center, aka Urgent Care.

The doctor poked Madelynn's poor finger and sqoze a bunch of puss out to take a culture of what the infection was caused from and gave her an antibiotic to help fight it. Yeah, so the Urgent care wasn't too bad for a Sunday afternoon, much better than a weekday evening, but goodluck trying to find a Pharmacy open at 6:00 on a Sunday evening when you finally leave the place. It was pretty much impossible. We tried Hina's, Costco, Target, Rite Aid, KMC, and finally ended up at Walgreen's on Mt. Vernon. We have tried there before only to find that it is worse than the ER waiting room with people waiting for their medicine. So we really didn't want to have to go there, but it was our only choice. Oh yea, and it won't be ready until 9:00, so Jacob is gone to pick up the prescription now and we are going to have to wake Maddy up to give it to her, but at least she will get the stuff, right?!?!?

This is Maddy before we left still in her new dress.

Flippin' ya the bird!! The white part in the middle of her finger is the infection, sorry for the bad picture, this is the best I could get.

Here we are waiting in our room for the Doctor.

Here is Maddy and Jacob in the waiting room.
