The Big Blow!!

For the first time in my parenthood experience I wish I had a video camera ready more than ever. Madelynn has a liking of putting things in her nose and ears, mostly her nose though. In the past we have been able to squeeze the top of her nose and the item would pop right out. Well tonight this was not the case. We were having macaroni and cheese (homemade) and peas. I had given her some peas to tide her over until the macaroni was finished. Amanda, my sister, caught her trying to put a pea up her nose and was able to get it out and we thought that was the end of it, as it usually is. Madelynn's eyes were still watering so I decided to get a flashlight and take a look. Sure enough there was green at the top of her nose, all the way up, beyond the point of us being able to getting it out. I was starting to think, 'oh great, here we go to the urgent care, again!!' But Jacob's thoughts were, 'ah let her suffer a little bit, maybe she'll learn to quit putting things in her nose.' So we decided to finish dinner, which Madelynn loved. She was able to scarf down seconds even being in her predicament.

Well, while we were eating Jacob had another great idea and thought we should have Madelynn sniff the pepper and see what happens. Being that she is still under 2, her sniffs are more so blows than sniffs, so that didn't work. So Jacob decided to put some just under her nose, which he did. I thought, oh great, that is just going to make her nose burn now and add to our troubles. Alas, I was wrong and Jacob was right. Within about 10 seconds Madelynn had that look in her eyes and we could tell she was going to sneeze, but was it going to get the pea out???? Sure enough, not only one pea, but TWO flew out of her nose!!! It was the funnies thing EVER!!! We all laughed so hard. Poor Madelynn didn't know what to think about us laughing so hard. She did proceed to have about five more sneezes before the pepper wore off. Again, I wish I had a camera, or even better a video camera ready to share this wonderfully humerous experience!!
